The President of Côte d'Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara, appointed its first ministerial cabinet since coming to Office after a disputed election, retaining Guillaume Soro as Prime Minister and Charles Koffi Diby, Minister of finance.
Soro has held the position since 2007 where he led a Government power - sharing with former President Laurent Gbagbo, who has lost an election in November to Ouattara. Soro will also Minister of defence in the administration of 36 members, the Government said in a statement distributed to reporters in the commercial capital of Abidjan today.
Diby and Soro were members of the Ouattara emergency Government formed during the violent post-election crisis which was triggered by the refusal of Gbagbo to cede power.
Ouattara has been sworn in as President on May 21, after the five-month conflict which ends after Gbagbo was captured in Abidjan, April 11. At least 2,000 people were killed, according to the United Nations.
Patrick Achi, a Government spokesman, Minister of economic infrastructure and the Toungara Adama was appointed Minister of energy.
